:  From Witney proceed on the A415 past the village of Ducklington and turn left signposted Hardwick and Stanton Harcourt.  Upon entering the village of Stanton Harcourt  Blackditch will be found after a few hundred yards on the right hand side. Turn into this road and continue along. Turn right into Farmhouse Close.

Stanton Harcourt has considerable history and its name probably came from the combination of the Manor of Stanton and the Harcourt family.  It is now a popular village comprising many interesting period houses and cottages and a number of modern dwellings creating a good balance of architecture and styles.  The local amenities include a post office/village shop, public house/restaurant and a parish church.  Further educational facilities are found in Eynsham and Oxford and there is an excellent shopping centre in Witney.


Witney is an attractive country town with good modern amenities and a bustling community life.  There are fine buildings surrounding the ancient Buttercross and a twice weekly market. There are two major health centres with others on the periphery and an excellent choice of primary and secondary schools, including faith schools. Witney Lakes Resort has a golf course, health club and swimming pool and offers many other sporting activities and there is also a community leisure centre. The Woolgate Centre and Marriotts Walk provide an excellent variety of shops including Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, a Multi-Screen Cinema and many restaurants and food outlets. Public transport is available from outlying villages and from Witney to Oxford and on to London. Burford 7 miles, Oxford 13 miles, London 68 miles.
