Situation
Ironbridge is a renowned and historic area nestling in The Severn Gorge which forms one of the most striking and distinctive landscapes in England, with a charming town centre adjoining the River Severn and the slopes of The Gorge combining a delightful mix of imposing, detached period residences mingling with charming cottages up the hillside. This remarkable area was at the heart of the Industrial Revolution and became world famous in 1779 when the world’s first iron bridge was constructed over the River Severn and from which the town derives its name. 

Chapel Road is in actual fact a pedestrian only thoroughfare located halfway up and accessed from Madeley Road on the left hand side just before Belmont Road, high on the upper slopes of The Gorge, but only about 600 yards from the Iron Bridge itself.

 

The property
Is beautifully presented and comprises an open plan kitchen/diner which has a beautiful exposed beam adding to the charm and character of the property, a range of base and wall units, built-in washing machine, dishwasher and fridge, built-in stainless steel five ring gas hob with double oven below and stainless steel extractor hood above, tiled flooring, glazed panel door leading to the lounge and opening leading to the boiler room which houses the property’s central heating boiler.  The large open plan lounge has wood effect flooring, open fireplace with tiled hearth and traditional style surround, staircase ascending to the first floor and useful under stairs store cupboard; a glazed panel door leads to the entrance hall which has quarry tiled flooring and a door leading to the front. 

 

On the first floor there is a landing with two loft hatch access points, access to three bedrooms and family bathroom.  Bedrooms one and two enjoy lovely views towards the Gorge. The master bedroom has an exposed beam adding to the charm and charter of the property, a range of fitted wardrobes and an opening leading to the en-suite shower room which comprises pedestal wash hand basin, low level wc and shower cubicle with wall mounted electric shower.  The third bedroom has an airing cupboard housing the property’s hot water cylinder. The family bathroom comprises panelled bath, vanity wash hand basin with cupboard below, low level wc, extractor fan and partly tiled walls. 

 

Outside
No.8 Chapel Road can be accessed via Chapel Road or pedestrian steps from Madeley Road.  Directly off Madeley Road there is a lay-by area which belongs to the property which the current vendor uses for parking.  Steps lead up to a tiered garden area with metal gate at the top leading to Chapel Road.  Across from Chapel Road access leads to the property which has a hard standing area which could be used for a seating area with views over The Gorge.  Steps at the side of the property lead to a block paved area; further steps lead to a further garden area where there is a lawned area, graveled areas, timber shed and various shrub and tree borders.

 

How to get there from the centre of Ironbridge proceed up Madeley Road (B4373 to Madeley and Dawley); Chapel Road is on the left hand side and starts as a gravelled path with a few steps next to 2 warning triangle signs just before the sharp left hand bend; pedestrian access leads to No.8.
