Full description:
Walnut Tree Cottage is situated on the northern edge of Heydon, which is just in the county of Cambridgeshire, but sits on the Hertfordshire/Essex borders close to the picturesque villages of Chrishall, Chishill and Elmdon. A surprisingly rural area with fine countryside and historical houses, yet Cambridge is fifteen minutes away and the M11 (J10) is about five miles away. Walnut Tree Cottage possibly dates back to the mid 17th century and is Grade II Listed, considered to be of historical and architectural merit. Predominantly timber framed with rendered elevations under a neat thatched roof, the house was substantially extended in brick and blockwork in the 1960s. This intriguing building is a structure of three parts; the oldest part has a fine timbered drawing room with an inglenook fireplace and two good sized bedrooms on the first floor. A glazed family room about 50ft long runs along the back of the house and benefits from the exceptional views. There are two ground floor bedrooms served by a family bathroom and above, an impressive master bedroom suite with a seating area, a balcony and an en suite bathroom. The kitchen lies at the front of the house and has an oil fired Aga, there is also a utility room which leads to a large garage and storeroom. The property is well set back from the road with easily maintained gardens laid to lawn with walnut and fruit trees. At the back there is a pond and lawns and exceptional panoramic views. The house would benefit from some updating, but it is in a fine position in the village and the size of the accommodation is very appealing.

Directions:
From Junction 10 of the M11 take the A505 heading towards Royston, pass Duxford Imperial War Museum and after about 1.5 miles take the third turn on the left signposted to Heydon. As you enter the village the property will be found a short way along on the right hand side. "
