This exquisite home is set on an elevated position, centrally
within 53 acres of land. The home itself offers outstanding
accommodation with a self contained two bedroom annexe and separate
two bedroom bungalow within the grounds. There are leisure
facilities as well as equestrian facilities. The unique home is
beautifully presented within a picturesque setting, a real rural
retreat! The story Soaking up the silence at Mount Pleasant
Farm, the owners of the extensive property enjoy the utter
tranquillity of their setting. The family moved to the farm, at
Burcott, about 14 years ago, having been attracted to the privacy
it offered. We are right in the middle of approximately 50 acres of
land and yet at the same time we are not too far from the village,
which has everything we need, one of them explained. Much of the
property was once a Rothschild farm, and is thought to date back to
the 1800s. It has, however, been extended significantly, including
out to the front. We have made it our own by adopting some of the
outbuildings and barns and adding them into the house, she said.
EQUESTRIAN POTENTIAL Today Mount Pleasant Farm is a simply splendid
property, with substantial living and recreation space. The main
house has five bedrooms but there is also a guest annexe, with two
more bedrooms, a drawing room, kitchen breakfast room and bathroom,
and a housekeeper's bungalow, with an additional two bedrooms, a
drawing room, kitchen breakfast room and bathroom. This could be a
working farm if that was what someone was seeking, she suggested.
It could also be a superb equestrian property - the riding in this
area is very good. There are 10 stables here, as well as a man?ge
and two small turning out fields, as well as the larger fields.
Having the annexe and the bungalow would work very well for someone
needing additional living space for grooms or other members of
staff. STYLISH HOME The entire house has been refurbished by the
owners, creating some areas that have a traditional country
appearance and others that are more contemporary. A house like this
works well in different styles, she pointed out. We have just
repainted the kitchen cabinets in a stone colour, for example, but
equally it could be a cosy farmhouse if that was a look someone
else preferred. The L-shaped kitchen breakfast room is very much
the heart of the house. This is where friends often gather round
the table. It is also right next to the dining room, which leads
into the drawing room, so it is perfect if you are entertaining
lots of people. The study is another favourite space, where she
enjoys working and gazing out to the front of the property. I also
love my bedroom, where I have nice comfortable chairs that I can
retreat to and then sit quietly and read, she added. EXCELLENT
PARTIES Other highlights of the property include the barn, which
has been converted into an open-sided entertainment area for
barbecues and parties. There is also a snooker room and a gym or
games room, with a mezzanine level. We have had lots of wonderful
times here with friends and family. We had my daughter's
christening and a 40th birthday party, with a hog roast, she said.
But this has also been a great family house. When the children were
small they could be in the playroom next to the kitchen or out in
the courtyard and it was easy to keep an eye on them. The older
ones can go off with their friends or round the fields on a quad
bike. She added: We have found it easy to get to schools, stations
and the M25 from here - and Milton Keynes is just 15 minutes away
but this is also a very beautiful part of the world and we have
loved the fact it is so private. HOME ON THE RANGE There is huge
potential at Mount Pleasant Farm to create a home to meet the needs
of new owners. As well as the possibility of running it as a
working farm or equestrian facility, it could also be suitable for
other pursuits as there is a range of outbuildings and a workshop.
Subject to the relevant planning permissions, there is still also
potential to adapt the house. Spaces such as the outdoor
entertaining area, for example, could be brought into the main home
as an additional indoor living space. Accommodation An
extensive gravelled driveway leads up to the home, with steps up to
the front door. Entering the home the grand entrance hall sits
central to the reception rooms around, with a winding butterfly
