" “We were aware that a conversion was taking place of afarmhouse, farm buildings and barns into a small development ofwhat promised to be unique and individual houses in the village, butas it was down a private driveway we could not catch a glimpse ofit,” recalls Vanessa.

“When we decided to go and take a look it wasmagical, we could not believe what had been achieved and wemade up our minds then that this is where we wanted to live.”

Colin joins in, “The property which eight years ago became ourmuch loved home has a paddock and a barn and is similar to alonghouse with windows on both sides. It has a wonderfultraditional feel with large beams in natural wood and a real senseof a craftsman at work in the way in which the house has beencreated. It is timber framed and really conducive to modern familyliving, being low maintenance and yet not losing its feeling ofheritage and origins."

"What I particularly adore about the house are the views from therear where we can see open skies and fields for miles and miles,"continues Vanessa.

"The sunrises and sunsets are amazing - they aretruly spectacular and we never tire of the view from first thing inthe morning to the last thing at night. The rear garden is safe andperfect for children and the sound of their laughter as they playhere is simply wonderful. This is indeed a very sociable house withquite a continental feel. In the French-style country kitchen we havea substantial central island which it is possible to sit 10 people atand with the large galleried landing we are able to walk right theway around and see what is going on below so one always feelspart of what is going on even when upstairs.”

”We are private and not overlooked here and yet we haveneighbours close by if we need them for anything or they need us.That is one of the great aspects of living here and we have all theamenities we need in the village, including two pubs, a church and apharmacy. Living here at Westcote Farm has been a privilege andwith the barn at the end of our home there is still potential for thehouse here to be developed even further, which is really anexciting prospect.” *Colin and Vanessa5 Westcote Farm
