" Just... wow! This secluded and gorgeous four bedroom Potton designed bungalow built in 1998 by Avonglade offers an impressive plot (approx. 1.25 acres) and boasts a stunning outlook to rear with views towards Essex/Istead Rise.
Approached by a driveway approx. 150 meters long this home was tweaked to the specification of the current owners and includes a fabulous lounge with vaulted ceiling 13'3 high and huge fireplace. The plot, formally consisting of two paddocks includes a stable block measuring 64' x 20' that includes three stables, tack room and storage area plus a large garage measuring 28' x 16'. The master bedroom has a four piece en suite whilst the other three bedrooms are all well proportioned. The kitchen/diner faces to the rear, so like the lounge offers a wonderful outlook whilst entertaining.
This home is located on the edge of the leafy New Barn. Along New Barn Road is Broadditch Farm Shop and Manor Farm Barn (gastropub). What the owners say:
We acquired this home to meet a long held dream to have ours - horses at the bottom of
our garden.
It had been a smallholding registered with MAFF/DEFRA but the previous
property was dilapidated and had no future.
After much research we decided to project manage the building of a customised Potton
Bungalow. Landscaping the site required many hours of personal labour in creating the
gardens, driveway, 2 paddocks and renovating the stables.
But the dream was met with our thoroughbred horse and Shetland Pony at the bottom
of our garden.
We were to discover even more plus points; being well off road it is peaceful and
commands lovely views across the river to Essex and we have seen lots of nature too.
From baby bunnies and badgers to glow worms, birds of prey, bats, stag beetles and so
so much more. Not forgetting the hooting owls at night.
We have had good relationships with the neighbours all round. We often get lovely
comments from visiting business tradesmen and friends on how beautiful the place is.
We feel so lucky to live here.
Although there is a footpath across the top paddock we rarely see anyone using it. It
comes from Longfield Avenue down Yew Tree Close and across to Thirty Acre Shaw,
crossing the New Barn Road and on to Southfleet (and the pub) or Broadditch Farm shop
and pond.
We are now in our 70's and it will be a big wrench to leave this comfortable tranquille
idle. But the horses have gone so we have decided it is that time for us to down size and
to move nearer our family living in Surrey.
