DESCRIPTION West Lodge was designed by Samel Wyatt and is believed to date back to 1771. In recent years it has undergone a sympathetic programme of restoration and enlargement to a high specification. West Lodge and East Lodge are former gate lodges to Doddington Hall. The lodges, gates and piers are listed Grade II as being of historic and architectural interest. The original property is constructed of dressed sandstone blocks, the extension, of handmade bricks of matching hue. The roofs are in slate.

The lodge is approached through the original entrance gate to Doddington Hall (although no longer used by the hall). The drive, which is shared, leads to a private parking area. NB Planning permission (now lapsed) was obtained for a secondary vehicular access onto Crewe Road. There is sufficent grounds at the side of the lodge for a garage (subject to planning permission).
