Full description:
The Old Inn is a stunning, Grade II Listed residence situated in the heart of the village, standing in superb landscaped gardens. The property dates back to 1694 and is of timber frame construction with rendered elevations with later additions, all under tiled roofs. The property is presented to an extremely high standard and retains many period features including a wealth of exposed timbers, fine inglenook fireplaces - one with an open fire, the other with a Hungarian wood burner. Arranged over 3 floors with a substantial cellar, the ground floor has a magnificent drawing room with many exposed timbers, a further reception room accessed via a small lobby, with a shower room off - this could be utilised as a bedroom suite. There is a well appointed dining room with a study leading off and the kitchen/breakfast room is well fitted with a range of base and wall cabinets and central island with electric hob. The superb stair tower has a "gentle rise" staircase leading to the first and second floors; the first floor offering a master bedroom suite with shower room, 2 further bedrooms and a family bathroom. The second floor has 2 further bedrooms and a bathroom. Access to the extensive cellars is below the stair tower. This is a large cellar area but with restricted head height of approx. 5ft.
Outside the gravel driveway provides parking for several vehicles, leading to a triple open bay cartlodge with adjoining workshop and garden store. The extremely well landscaped gardens are a particular feature, principally laid to lawn with many mature trees and shrubs. There is an attractive feature pond, extensive terracing and pathways and, in all, the total plot extends to about 0.3 of an acre.

Directions:
From Saffron Walden take the Ashdon Road out of the town into open countryside until reaching Ashdon itself. Continue through the centre of the village until reaching a right hand turn - signposted to The Camps and Steventon End. Continue along this road until reaching the next road junction, at which point take a right hand turn continuing into Castle Camps. Once in the village, The Old Inn will be found on the right hand side opposite the High Street. "
